شمشیر کا مطلب ہوتا ہے "تیز تراشنے والا تیغ" یا "تیز تراشنے والا کھانچا". یہ لفظ عربی زبان سے اردو میں آیا ہے۔ قرآن میں بھی شمشیر کا ذکر آیا ہے، جیسے کہ سورۃ الانفال کی آیت نمبر ۶۰ میں آیا ہے:
"وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَيْءٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ"
یہ آیت میں شمشیر کا استعمال جہادی مقاصد کے لئے بیان کیا گیا ہے۔
معنی خوش قسمت رنگ کے بارے میں

English Translation:
Meaning of "Shamsheer" in Urdu and the Quran
The word "Shamsheer" means "a sharp-edged sword" or "a sharp-edged knife". This word has originated from the Arabic language and is used in Urdu as well. The Quran also mentions the word "Shamsheer", for example in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 60:
"And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged."
In this verse, the use of the word "Shamsheer" is mentioned for the purpose of Jihad.
