Muhajir

Muhajir or Mahajir (, , ) is an Arabic-origin term used in Pakistan to describe mostly Urdu-speaking Muslim refugees and their descendants who fled from regions of India and settled in Pakistan after the Partition of India during Independence of India and Pakistan from British rule in 1947. They form about 7.5% of Pakistan’s population and are mostly settled in the province of Sindh, making up a majority in Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan.
