مقعد نام اردو زبان کا ایک معروف نام ہے۔ یہ لفظ "کرسی" یا "بیٹھک" کو ظاہر کرتا ہے۔ مقعد کا استعمال عموماً گھر یا عوامی جگہوں میں بیٹھنے کے لئے کیا جاتا ہے۔
قرآن میں بھی "مقعد" کا ذکر کیا گیا ہے۔ مثلاً سورة البقرة میں آیت نمبر 35 میں آیا ہے:
وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
اس آیت میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے آدم علیہ السلام اور حوا کو فرمایا کہ وہ جنت میں رہیں اور جہاں چاہیں بیٹھیں اور اس درخت کے قریب نہ جائیں تاکہ ظالموں میں شامل نہ ہوں۔

The word "Mukaddas" is also mentioned in the Quran. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 35, it is mentioned:
"And We said, ‘O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from it in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.’"
In this verse, Allah instructs Adam and Eve to dwell in Paradise and sit wherever they please, but they are forbidden from approaching a specific tree so that they do not become among the wrongdoers.
